Real Techniques | Miracle Complexion Sponge Review

Real Techniques is a brand that I'm sure everyone has heard of. I bought the core collection last year and to be honest, I wasn't blown away. I just don't know why but I hate putting foundation on with a brush. My face is always left with lines of foundation all over it and looking really streaky - not a good look! I decided to give Real Techniques another try and bought the Miracle Complexion Sponge at £5.99, which is a good price for a Real Techniques product!

I've never used a sponge to apply my foundation before so I was quite excited to try it out! I applied my usual foundation which is Rimmel's Match Perfection. The sponge is super soft and it blends the foundation into my skin so easily and I'm not left with that dreaded streaky look. My skin looks softer and smoother. I almost felt like I was using a different foundation because the results are so much better than they would be if I was using my fingers. I also love apply my powder and concealer with the sponge too! I know I'm going to keep on using this.

I honestly didn't know what I'd expect with using a foundation sponge as I didn't like the core collection from Real Techniques but the Miracle Complexion sponge has well and truely won me over! At £5.99, I'd urge you to just buy this sponge and leave the core collection unless you're a makeup brush lover! Plus, brushes are so expensive and I personally find them so awful to use. This is excellent value and the results are amazing.

My only problem is that I'll have to wash the sponge a lot and as a newbie to makeup brushes/sponges, I need tips on how to wash them :) How do you all wash your makeup brushes? Tell me in the comments below. What do you all think of Real Techniques? x

    I really want to try that, the only sponge I own is a Beauty Blender wannabe and I kinda hate it. I just have to find a store here in Portugal that sells that one without it being a complete rip-off!

    I love my brushes however I got a makeup sponge for 99p from eBay and I love the way it makes my foundation look too! To clean I recommend leaving the sponge in some hot soapy water, it usually does the job for me! Great review xx

    I always wash mine with just baby shampoo, but be extra careful with sponges as they can flake and fall apart! I used to love real techniques but they've slowly been swapped out for my zoeva brushes!

    I never liked applying with a brush until I came across ELF's complexion brush. It takes some blending but it works :D Fingers have always been my top pick!

    I haven't even tried a sponge yet.. when you clean it.. how long does it take for it to dry? Do you need to buy more than 1?

      Yeah, I still like to use my fingers to blend too :) & it doesn't take long to dry! I think they look a little used after a while so you would have to buy another a couple of months or something. x x

    It makes a fabulous even complexion to apply foundation with a sponge, but I'm to lazy to wash it afterwards, so I just go on with my fingers...

    I seen this in Superdrug the other day and was so tempted to buy it but changed my mind, your review may have just won me over! Also, I just wash my brushes/sponge with shower gel or hand wash and warm water, it actually works really well! xx

    I love the sponge too! I know you said you're not a huge makeup brush fan but you should try the Zoeva brushes. They're so so amazing and I'm pretty sure they'll convert you into a makeup brush lover! xx

    Oh I can't believe you were disappointed with the brushes! Though to be fair I don't have their foundation brush as I dont wear it. But im in love with using their brushes for eyeshadow. As for cleaning - hot water and baby shampoo :)

    I completely agree like when I use brushes for foundation there are just brush lines everywhere! I use a dupe for this I found on eBay and then buff it in with my brush :) I do want the real thing though!

      I hate using brushes! It's good to know someone other than us hates them too :) Everyone else loves foundation brushes. The sponge is way better and the real techniques on is definately worth getting :) x

    I use rimmel match perfect too - and was really considering trying this sponge out instead of using my typical real techniques foundation brush! Think your review has persuaded me to try it now - I didn't realise it was so cheap to buy either! :)
