Wait and Braid | Half up Fishtail

Braiding my hair has always been something I've wanted to do but I never actually tried until recently. I always used to look at people on Youtube braiding and feel insanely jealous! With hairstyles, I just assumed it was something that I would find way too tricky to master. It was only this week I thought to myself; if I don't try, I won't learn! So learn was exactly what I did! Youtube is where I started but I bought a braiding book a couple of months ago too. I began with practising Dutch braids (my fave)! I didn't get it at all and got frustrated easily but thankfully I didn't give in. Practise really does make perfect because all of a sudden I got what I needed to do and then I was obsessed with braiding!

I didn't stop at Dutch braids though and now I've finally achieved the Fishtail plait! I absolutely love this style and I think it looks really intresting. I love the extra twist with the topsy tail above the Fishtail braid! If anyone would be intrested in learning this style I might post a photograph tutorial on the blog soon!

Do you love braiding your hair?

Reasons Why I'm Looking Forward to Autumn!

For those of you who don't know, it offically turned the season of Autumn sometime during this week and from the photographs above you can already see the leaves falling, turning different colours and the weather is certainly changing down here in Liverpool! I actually can't wait for the colder weather and for Autumn to come. I love absolutely about it  and I think it's because I've never been a person that loves the Summer. Here are my top reasons why I love Autumn:

  • The changing colours. I love the reds, oranges and browns of the leaves. It makes everwhere look so much more beautiful and makes my walks in the park even more enjoyable!
  • The colder weather. Some people might think I'm crazy for thinking this! You'll see in my next reason why I love the colder weather!
  • The FASHION! See, I told you there was a good reason why I liked the colder weather! Fur coats, hats and gloves are my favourite things to wear. I think I have a slight fur obsession with coats though. Not to mention snuggly jumpers and knitted tights to keep cosy. I think my outfits looks so much better in Autumn/Winter than they ever do in the warmer months.
  • The T.V gets better. Watching T.V isn't something I do much and with good reason. I can never find anything good to watch apart from The Following. So, with Autumn brings Strictly Come Dancing. I love that show and have watched it for years, ever since I can remember actually! I absolutely detest The X-factor though!
  • Darker makeup looks. You can't go wrong with a dark red lipstick or smokey eyes!
  • My favourite colours to wear in Autumn are black (no surprise!) and burgundy.
  • I love the darker nights. This is probably why I don't like Summer. The light nights just don't feel right!
  • Autumn only means Halloween and Bonfire night! I love special occasions!
  • Christmas is closer and only a couple of months way! Christmas time is my favourite time of year so naturally I am already excited!

Cute Floral Prints

 Dress - Select
Blouse - Forever 21
Shoes - River Island
Tights - New Look

I have been completly obsessed with this outfit! On a recent trip out to town, me and my sister Rachel decided to take a trip into Forever 21. I've never been in Forever 21 and I don't really know why but after buying this cute velvet black blouse, I've fallen in love with all of there beautiful clothes! The blouse is just my style and it's a big favourite of mine. It's got so much detail which I love and it has a slightly clinched in waist. I've been into the shop three more times since first going in there and I know it's fast becoming my favourite store. The skirts, blouses, t-shirts are just beautiful! Forever 21 coming into my life isn't good news for my purse though! Next up is the cute flotal playsuit from Select. I normally love wearing dresses and skirts but I love the patten of this playsuit. I've always been a big fan of floral and I just think the pattern is gorgeous. I love the colours in the pattern too. I'm also wearing my beloved New Look tights and River Island shoes.

Do you love Forever 21 as much as we do?

My Two Clueless Inspired Skorts!

Believe it or not, I've never owned a pair of skorts, before now that is! Last Sunday I decided to go onto the River Island webside and in the sale section I happened to spot these two amazing pairs of skorts. I knew I needed them right away because the minute I saw them all that came into my mind was Cher and the 90's classic film, Clueless! (one of my favourite films). When they finally arrived in the post I was absolutely overjoyed. They are comfortable, stylish and look even better than they did online. For only £10 each you can't beat them and I think I'll be living in these for a while. The baby pink ones are probably my favourite!

Will you be looking into the River Island sale?

Strawberry Fields Outing.

One of the best things about living in Liverpool is that all of The Beatles landmarks are just places you find yourself driving past each day! It's unreal to think thousands of people travel to see these landmarks such as Strawberry Fields and John Lennon's house which is just around the corner from the fields. I've always took living in Liverpool for granted so today we decided to make a little car journey down to Strawberry Fields! I've saw so many people get their photographs taken outside the gates but me and my sister Rachel have never taken any photographs outside or even stepped out to see the gates. So why not get some today?

I love the little messages people have left all around the red gates, showing admiration and respect for their idols, The Beatles! I regret not writing my own message but there is always next time! Next time we will go and visit John Lennon's house and hopefully write a follow up post on that! I had a lovely time visiting Strawberry Fields. It's part of music history and being such a massive fan of music I thought this day was a day spent well.

Are you a fan of The Beatles? Have you visited any Beatles landmarks?

My Favourite - Bourjois Mega Liner!

In my opinion there is no makeup look that quite matches the traditional cat eye eyeliner. It is glamourous, iconic and flattering to all eye shapes. But there is one problem; it is tricky and sometimes messy to do! Practise can easily perfect this look over time but another secret to achieving a beautiful cat flick is getting the right eyeliner. I always found it so hard to apply liquid eyeliner and this has resorted to me spending hours reading and watching various make-up tutorials.

Earlier this year I was curious about the new Bourjois release, the mega liner. I couldn't resist getting it for my birthday and since then it has been the only thing I've used! My make-up routine wouldn't be complete without it and the angled tip makes it so much easier to apply. The tip allows you to either do a thick or thin line and it is super soft and gentle on my eyelids. The pigment is absolutely amazing. I couldn't believe how ultra black the liquid was and I knew straight away that I would be able to achieve those gorgeous Bardot eyes with this liner! The staying power is incredible and doesn't smudge or crumble away. At first I didn't know how this liner was going to make application any easier but it has definately helped and I can do cat flicks effortlessly. It is my secret to cat eye make-up, the easy way! I don't think I'll ever swap this Bourjois beauty for any other eye liner.

Will you be swapping your favourite eyeliner for the Bourjois Mega Liner?

Braids | The Simple Plait.

Today's post is going to be a simple post. As I've recently dyed my hair after a hair colouring disaster (yes, I know I've talked about this a lot!) I've been experimenting with different hairstyles. I'm taking advantage of not having roots too! This hair style is perfect as is just so pretty and it keep my fringe on my face. All I do is pull my hair back and plait it, simple as that! Because I've just got it bleached all over, I'm going to wash it a lot less over next couple of weeks so all the natural oils in my hair can come back. Braids and up do's are perfect for disguising greasy hair and simple braids can add so much to your overall look. I love dutch, french and waterfall braids. The are quite tricky to achieve though and sadly take some practise!

As you can see my hair still has a lot of brass and ugly yellow tones in it but this will hopefully be sorted out after my next hairdressing appointment. It's such a hassel having blonde hair because it is such a long process to get the perfect, true blonde. It's been a long time coming to say the least! I'm really thinking about getting it darker because my sister Rachel has just had her hair dyed darker and it looks so beautiful! Post coming soon with photographs! She's still adjusting to it but I think it looks perfect. The blonde I have at the moment seems really unmanageable!

Perking Up a Casual Outfit!

  Dress -Primark
Shoes - Primark
Tights - New Look
Skirt - Ebay

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing okay. Yesterday I had my hair dyed at the hairdressers so i'm feeling a lot more confident about taking photgraphs (although I'm not a very confident person anway)! I have talked about my hair disaster in previous posts and I urgently needed to get it sorted out. As you might be able to see, you can still spot orange/ginger bits in my hair but I should never have experimented with home hair dye kits. Why does hair colouring have to be such a complex thing to do?

I suppose my little rant is over and now let's get onto my outfit. I wasn't expecting to do an outfit of the day post today seeing as this outfit might not interest anyone. It's quite casual and comfortable but I definately think it's different. I'm wearing my all time favourite tights and shoes that I've already featured in my outfit of the day posts. The fashion tights add some much more to this otherwise laid back look.

I absolutely love this dress from Primark. The reason I'm wearing my metallic skirt underneath is because I admit that I did feel a bit exposed without it! However, with the skirt I feel a lot more comfortable and I adore how the silver shines through the crochet dress. I love the spacey vibes I'm getting from the skirt. I definately love the futuristic style and metallic is my new obsession! I got the skirt off Ebay. I've gotton some amazing pieces from Ebay recently and I think I'll be going online for more of my clothes. It's worth looking on there every week because you never know what you will find! Without the skirt, this outfit would look a lot more boring. Mixing and matching is always a saviour in my book!

Metallic Skirt = New Love.

Crop Top - New Look
Shoes - Primark
Kimono - New Look
Skirt - Ebay
Locket - ASOS
Due to a recent hair dye disaster, I've decided not to include my face in these pictures because that would mean showing off my awful hair dont! I feel so ashamed going out in public. I tried to dye my roots platinum but it all went so wrong and to cut a long story short I've got the most awful brassy/ginger hair! I've got to go the hairdressers on Tuesday so until then I'll be in hiding! I might write a blog post on my experince though after my hair gets sorted out. That way I'll have before and after photographs!

Anyway, onto my outfit! This is the first time I've worn this outfit together and I must say I love it! The star of this outfit in my opinion is my lovely new skirt and it is a total gem from Ebay! and it was only 99p! I love the detail, the colour and how different it is from all my other skirts. It is orginally from Miss Selfridge, a shop I never usually go in so I might need to look in there a bit more if this skirt is anything to go by!

In my last outfit of the day post (x) I was also wearing my Primark shoes and New Look kimono. The kimono is so versatile and goes with almost all of my outfits.

The most expensive thing (apart from my £14.99 shoes from Primark) I'm wearing in this post is my locket necklace. This probably isn't all that surprising seeing as it is from ASOS. Why is that place so expensive? My purse is busted every time I go online so I better keep away for a while. That being said, I absolutely love this necklace and it is such a nice little accessory.

I hope everyone had a nice Sunday.

My Experience with Piercings.

I've always been a big fan of piercings and lately I find it is becoming the latest trend. I've had my ears piecered since I was six years old and now nine years later, I finally decided to get more piercings. The best piercing/tattoo shop here in Liverpool is a place called 'A design for life'. The place has amazing service and is worth every penny. They also do absolutely beautiful tattoos too! (why do we have to wait to be eighteen to get a tattoo?!). My best advice to anyone would be to find a shop that has a great reputation as you want the best results possible. Hygine needs to be top priority when getting a piercing because all the needles need to be sterilised and clean. You don't want to get piercing only for it to become infected.

I had my heart set on getting my nose pierced first. As this was my first piercing I was so nervous and anxious. I had no idea how it would feel like and how much it would hurt. Out of 5 I would rate the pain a 3. I was actually suprised at how much it didn't hurt. It did sting but that was to be expected. I suppose this piercing felt a little different from the others as my eyes did water for a few seonds. There was bleeding afterwards but everyone is different. I was so happy with my piercing. It turned out so much better than I thought it would. The nose piercing is so cute as well, just look at that little diamond stud! You can see my nose stud on the picture above.

But then something happened that I didn't even expect. I woke up the day after my piercing was done and my stud had fallen out! I was absolutely heart broken because if you take a piercing out, the hole closes over in an instant! I had to get it re-pierced again a week later. I felt naked without my piercing for that week! To avoid this happening, sleep with plasters on your piercings. There is no chance of you knocking your piercing out then!

Up next is my eyebrow piercing. I was dreading getting this one done. It just 'looks' painful! I was also anxious about how I would look with a pierced eyebrow but the great thing about a piercing is that if you don't like them they heal over. I would rate 2/5 for pain. This hurt the least which suprised me a lot! My eyes didn't even water!
I've wanted my belly button pierced for so long! I love the belly bars that you can buy and I'm so happy with the gorgeous diamond stud that I have in this picture. The only thing that put me off from getting my belly button done was that my older sister got her belly button pierced but it got infected. As her belly button got infected she had to get hers removed but my piercing couldn't have gone better. The pain was unusul. It felt different as it was on my stomach. I would say it was a 3/5 for pain. I thought my button would be bleeding for a few days but it was fine. I actually used to forget I had it pierced as it feels so normal!

Now the ears. Nearly every girl has the 'typical' ear piercing. I got the top of my ear pierced first and It didn't really hurt. Only afterwards it started affecting me only because I sleep on the side it was pierced on and it hurt if pressure was applied to it. It took a few weeks for this to feel normal again. Next up was the second piercing on my ear lobe. This really hurt. Probably the most painful piercing after my nose. I really didn't expect it to hurt but as it's only a piercing the pain only lasted a few seconds and it hasn't hurt since.

My advice
  • I've mentioned this before but sleep with plasters on your piercings! You don't want you piercings falling out in your sleep like mine did. It was such a bad experience. Nothing hurt as much as seeing my piercing on the pillow next me!
  • Bleeding is normal for the first couple of days after a piercing.
  • Bruising is also normal. My eyebrow bruised like crazy!
  • Go to a clean, professional piercing studio! You pay for what you get. Make sure the studs and bars are good quality, like Titanium. Titanium does not irritate skin.
  • Clean the piercings with warm salt water. Pure sea salt is best because it is pure and natural.
Pain;
Keep in mind piercings only take seonds to do. If there is any pain it only feels like a stinging scratch. I was so worried about the pain after reading things on the internet but I can assure you it doesn't hurt! Don't let anything put you off a piercing as they're worth it in the end!

I can't wait to get more piercings on my ears so keep your eyes open for another post probably soon!

My New Perfect Nude Lip - Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil.

These past couple of weeks I've tried so hard to stop spending all my money on make up that I don't need. But what can you do when you're a lipstick junkie like I am? I have so many lipsticks and most of the shades that I buy look identical to each other (ooops!). Before purchasing this lip liner, Rimmel's Coffee Shimmer lipstick never left my lips and I didn't think I'd find any other lip colour that could take it's place. But Maybelline might have topped it!

Today whilest I was out shopping I felt very vunerable to my feelings and I guess I felt a bit down. I wanted to go home but then I decided a good trip into Boots would take my mind off things. I didn't expect to buy anything but enter Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet lip pencil! I haven't heard anything about this new collection so I was really excited to give it a try.

Maybelline in my opinion have been great this year, constantly bringing out new and creative make up inventions and this lip pencil is certainly no exception. The shade I bought is a lovely nude and is apporiately named ''Nude Perfection''. The texture is smooth and non-drying on my lips - this was something I was worried about because I've never came across a lip liner that hasn't made me lips feel super dry but this liner is perfect. It doesn't budge for hours either. Although it is only a nude, the colour is so pigmented. The other shades in the range are really bright and bold and I've got my eye on the vampy purple shade, ''Berry Much''. At £4.99, I think this pencil is absolutely amazing value for money and I haven't stopped wearing it since purchase.

What is your favourite lipstick?

First Outfit of the Day!

This is a very exciting post for me to do as it's my very first outfit of the day post! I've always loved fashion and clothes. I love the way a really great outfit makes you feel so much better about yourself. I really can't stand tight clothing and all my clothes need to feel comfortable. What's the point in wearing something you feel bad in? Comfortable clothing can obviously still be incredibly fashionable!  Fashion is important to me because it makes me feel good even when I'm feeling a bit down about myself. Me and my sister Rachel are always looking for new outfits and going out to town together. My favourite shops are River Island and more recently, New Look!  This outfit is mostly made up out of New Look clothes.
I bought this beautiful gothic Kimono yesterday and it wasn't even all that expensive! It was £23 and just think how much expensive it would have been if it was from River Island or ASOS? I think the velvet lining, the black lace and the tassels are just stunning and it's my perfect, dream piece of clothing. I feel like I've dreamed of owning this Kimono! I've never even worn a Kimono before but I think I'll be getting a lot more. They are perfect for just pulling on over every outfit. I can see myself living in this. The crop top is also from New Look but I bought it in a bigger size so I'd feel more comfortable. I love the usual striped pattern. The tights are also a great find from New Look. I've became absolutely obsessed with fashion tights! They make every outfit so much more interesting! The tights are like another accessory (accessories are key to making an outfit special!). My little necklace is from ASOS. Apparently it's nineties inspired because of the black cord and I couldn't resist it.
Onto my shoes. I'm in love with them and guess where they are from? Primark! so they were only £15.00. They took a while to break in but I adore them already. I like the way they still have height to them so I still feel like I'm wearing a bit of a heel. I hate completely flat shoes. The shoes look really doll-like and a couple of years ago I was completely obsessed with wanting to look 'babydoll!'.
My skirt is a simple skater skirt from Boohoo.

So there is my first outfit of the day! I think this is going to become a firm favourite outfit of mine. So, what did you wear today?
