Lifestyle | Reasons Why We Love Eating Clean!

''Eating Clean'' is something I NEVER thought I'd get into. I was never one for baking and to be honest, I didn't really think healthy food could actually taste nice. Whenever I'd read about someone eating fruit, eating 'clean' and drinking smoothies all day and actually enjoying it, I thought it was madness! But to be honest, I always felt disgusting and guilty after eating food out of packets, even if they claimed to be healthy foods.

Then one day we discovered an amazing healthy eating blog called Chocolate Covered Katie. Her blog is mainly a healthy dessert blog but she has recipes for gorgeous smoothies, pancakes recipes, oatmeal ideas and even healthy side dishes. I wanted to try something new so I couldn't wait to start baking! Chocolate Covered Katie has the most amazing recipes and they are so easy to follow! The first recipe we baked was Chocolate Peanut Butter Bites! Oh my god, they taste like snickers but better!

Here are some reasons why we love clean eating:
♥ We now make every meal and snacks so now we know exactly what goes into our food.
♥ Everything we make leaves us feeling full which is unbelievable. I was almost always hungry before clean eating.
♥ Smoothies our are new favourite drinks! They taste like heaven in a cup! My favourite one right now is peanut butter, avocado and banana, mmm. 
There are so many amazing recipes to make! They are all full of favour too.
♥ Because everything we bake is low in calories we can eat all day, ahah.
♥ We can all all of our favourite foods but they're healthy. They actually taste better.
♥ I feel a lot more comfortable in my own skin now :)
♥ Eating more healthy is really helping my low mood. I feel more happy within myself.
♥ My hair, skin and nails are feeling and looking better. 
It's so fun to bake! 

The benefits to clean eating are endless! Here are some of my favourite recipe blogs so you can start baking and eating clean!
Chocolate Covered Katie - Katie's blog was the first blog that we discovered and I think it will always be my favourite. I click on her blog atleast 1000 times a day to try out all of her amazing recipes!
Fit Foodie Finds - There are so many amazing recipes, especially the over night oats!
The Big Man's World - I love the rice pudding recipes and no bake bars.
Laurenda Marie - I love the honey cinnamon overnight oats and there are even face mask ideas!

There are so many amazing blogs out there but the ones above are my favourites. They have so many recipes and I honestly cannot wait to try them all out! We have both found a new found love in baking! The five foods I'd take to heaven would be peanut butter, bananas, oats, smoothies and curry flavoured sweet potato wedges! Honestly, I'm in love with peanut butter (obsessed)!! This has changed my whole life for the better.

  1. I have always wanted to get into making smoothies but unfortunately I can't seem to try a berry...something makes me go yuk!
    I feel like berries are what make smoothies good though so recently I decided that I will have to give berries a go sometime soon so I can make a yummy smoothie.

  3. I've always enjoyed eating healthily but I also LOVE indian takeaways, cheese, wine (basically all the unhealthy stuff) Lately though, I've really been focusing on healthier choices and I feel so much better for it. Now off to check out Chocolate covered Katie because she sounds amazing! :)

  8. Healthy eating can be so satisfying and tasty if you make it the right way! There are a lot of fun gourmet recipes that are more satisfying than junk food, but I like both, healthy and not healthy. French fries and chocolates are a must haha! Wonderful post! the smoothy looks soooo good!

  10. I felt the same way! I NEVER thought I would eat clean and healthy. I thought it was ridiculous and I would enjoy eating how ever I pleased. But once I changed my lifestyle I never looked back. I enjoy eating healthy! The food taste great and is so much better for you. I always feel proud after I finish a meal. Great post!

  11. I've gotten off track in recent months from my clean eating. I'm a pescetarian, and normally eat very clean with that, but lately I've been going to a lot of baby showers, wedding showers, etc., and eating all the junk that comes along with those. I can definitely tell with my energy levels and how my skin looks/feels that the new intake of processed foods and sugars is wearing my body down! I need to get back on board with my cleaner diet.

  22. Thank you for the recipe blog recommendations, I've been looking for some more. I actually find that I prefer the taste of healthier meals, I'm that girl who would much rather have a salad than a McDonalds :)

  24. I am not fully committed to eating clean, not at all to be honest. I don't consume any drugs, coffein, alcohol and only very little salt, but other than that I eat what I want. I do try to drink as much water as possible though and I enjoy having healthy meals. So thank you very much for the links you provided. I am glad you found a diet that suits your needs and wants ♥

  27. This is great! I recently went vegan in an attempt to stop myself eating junk and be more 'clean', and am actually finding myself enjoying it! The most important thing is making your own food from scratch so you know what's in it!

  30. I love the idea of eating clean and has been trying to cook healthier. However, there are some food that I am unable to give up such as instant noodles! It's almost a normal food to eat in Malaysia and I don't think I can ever give it up.

  32. I'm trying to eat a lot cleaner (I dont always find it easy) but I totally agree with you. I feel so much better in my skin, and I find that planning ahead is key. Plus, avacados!

  38. Love that you have been doing this! I did this when living overseas and after traveling. It made me feel so much better! It is so hard at first and every time I go to do it again, it takes a lot. I love knowing what is in your food and seeing everything in there! But it is for sure tough on the body and will power!
