Wait and Braid | Half up Fishtail

Braiding my hair has always been something I've wanted to do but I never actually tried until recently. I always used to look at people on Youtube braiding and feel insanely jealous! With hairstyles, I just assumed it was something that I would find way too tricky to master. It was only this week I thought to myself; if I don't try, I won't learn! So learn was exactly what I did! Youtube is where I started but I bought a braiding book a couple of months ago too. I began with practising Dutch braids (my fave)! I didn't get it at all and got frustrated easily but thankfully I didn't give in. Practise really does make perfect because all of a sudden I got what I needed to do and then I was obsessed with braiding!

I didn't stop at Dutch braids though and now I've finally achieved the Fishtail plait! I absolutely love this style and I think it looks really intresting. I love the extra twist with the topsy tail above the Fishtail braid! If anyone would be intrested in learning this style I might post a photograph tutorial on the blog soon!

Do you love braiding your hair?

  1. I've always really liked how braids look but my hair is so fine and short (I keep losing my patience when it comes to growing it out) that I've never had much luck with them :(
This looks so pretty, I love how it's kind of a different take on the half up, half down hair trend which I've been wanting to have a go at for a while now.
a tutorial is a great idea by the way! :)

    1. Thank you! I definately want to do a tutorial! & I know what you mean! My hair isn't really thick but braid look great in all kinds of hair! I find that after braiding, pulling the braid out and messing it up a bit makes hair look a lot thicker! Maybe you should give it another go :) x x x x

  2. I love braiding my hair and other peoples hair so much! My proudest achievement is a french fishtail plait - takes bloody ages but it looks sooo cool when its done. I've recently got my hair cut short and I cant braid it at all which is poo but means all my friends get to have pretty braids.

  7. Cute braid! I have never like braids but this is very nice. I love my wife's hair straight and long, but I love it simple in a pony tail so I can see her beautiful face. Thanks for sharing.

  15. This is stunning! My hair is too curly most of the time for delicate braids, so I usually just chunk it up in french braids.

  19. I never understood how to make a fishtail braid hahah and trust me I watched tutorials. Now I have short hair so doesn't really matter no more, but seeing it on you makes me really have long hair again to experiment with all those nice hair styles! Really suits you a lot!
