Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara | Review & Swatches

I've never been one to be obsessed with buying mascaras. I've always been a lipstick/eyeshadow palette junkie but there was a lot of talk in the beauty world about Maybelline's Lash Sensational Mascara - £7.99 so I just had to try it once I saw a 3 for 2 offer on in Boots.

I really love the packaging of this mascara. The colour of the tube is a lovely metallic rose gold that looks perfect in my makeup stash. The curved brush is long and quite chunky. I had high expectations for the mascara as I always think Maybelline are the best for mascaras. Lash Sensational didn't disappoint!
Many people have compared Lash Sensational to Benefit's lastest mascara, Roller Lash. I have a small tester of Roller Lash and although I loved it, I thought the formula was way to watery. I loved Lash Sensational a lot more than Roller Lash. I did think the formula of Lash Sensational was quite 'wet' but it does dry quite quickly. What I really love about this mascara is that it doesn't clump in the slightest! I never thought it was possible to apply a mascara without it clumping my lashes together. My eyelashes appear volumized and defined. I think this mascara is perfect for achieving natural looking long eyeslashes. All in all, I really loved this mascara and I definitely think everyone should give this a go! The only downfall is the formula being a little 'wet' but apart from that it's perfect. It doesn't clump or crumble and it manages to last for hours. What's not to love?

Do you love Maybelline's Lash Sensational Mascara? Did you think Lash Sensational was better than Benefit's Roller Lash?

March 2015 Favourites & Life Lately

Yay, our blog reached 1000 followers yesterday! Thank you everyone that reads our little blog. Creating Beyond The Velvet has been one of the best things we have done in a long time and we love writing it. Thank you everyone for following our blog, it means so much to us!
March was a good month for spending our money on things that we didn't really need but every girl needs to treat herself once in a while, haha. Let's have a look at our favourites for last month!
We bought our mum Makeup Revolution's Ultra Blush Palette - £6 (full review here) for Mother's day and she let us share it with her. Neither of us have owned a blush palette before but all of the colours are so pretty in this palette and perfect for spring and summer. I especially love the highlighting shades and this palette has some darker blushes for all the contouring junkies out there! We're also loving Shop Moon Child! Shop Moon Child sell gorgeous jewellery with a mystic gothy vibe and I couldn't help but buy the Cosmic Chain Choker - £4.99 (full review here). This choker is so unique and I love the different coloured stones.
We bought Maybelline's Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara - £7.99 a few weeks ago after hearing so many good things about it and it has definitely lived up to the hype! This mascara is just like Benefit's Roller Lash mascara which is double the price of Lash Sensational mascara. After being sent Yves Rocher products we have fallen in love with the brand, especially the Serum Vegetal Night Cream - £21* (full review here). I have really noticed a difference in my skin since using this night cream as my skin looks hydrated, moisterised and so much clearer! As a complete lipstick junkie, I need to added L'OrĂ©al Paris Color Riche Lipstick - 703 Oud Obsession which is a true 90's inspired lipstick!
This colour is my dream nail polish. I'm a fan of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Colours - £6.99. Red Zin is the perfect red shade. I've been wearing this polish for a few days and it's hardly chipped. The colour is so intense and pigmented. I love the look of this polish too as it looks so glossy and almost gel like.
My new favourite eyeshadow palette is Yves Rocher Quad Eyeshadow Sumptuous Colour - £12.50 in Red-hot brown. The shadows are so easy to apply and are really pigmented. There is also no drop out during the day and they are so long lasting without creasing. These eyeshadows create the perfect smokey eye look. I will do a full review later on this month :) Yves Rocher are such an amazing brand!

Life: Leah got here first ever tattoo! It's a small half moon on her wrist and she's so in love with it. It's so perfect and will definitely do a post on it soon but you can see it on our instagram :) We're both going to get 'twin' tattoos and we can't wait! Life had been pretty boring lately other than feeling super shit and down about things haha sorry to be depressing!

Music: My love for Alice In Chains is stronger than ever and I'm constantly listening to 'Dirt'. That album is just perfection.

Watching: The Following is finally back on again and I'm obsessed, especially as Joe has came back in it again. We've both started watching The Walking Dead and as you can probably tell, we're both obsessed. We're now watching season 3 and oh my god Daryl is just amazing. I'm so inlove with him ❤ We're also watching Bates Motel which is just amazing!!

Reading: I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open to read before I go to sleep but I'm reading the 'Fallen' series. I'm still undecided about these books but I just need to know what the hell happens at the end, haha, x

What are your favourites from last month?

Mini Boots Haul!

I don't think there is anything better than going into Boots and finding new makeup to try out (on a 3 for 2 offer). I am a self confessed makeup addict though! There have been many new makeup releases recently with Spring now in action and here are some of the things I bought yesterday.

Bourjois has always been a favourite brand of mine. These two lipsticks are in the shades 'Jet Set Rouge' and 'Pamplemousse'! They are two new additions to the range Rouge Edition 12 hour lipstick. I've tried other shades from the range before and been really impressed so I already knew these were going to be a good purchase! Me and Rachel have already got a review lined up for these lipsticks so I won't say too much about them in this post but I absolutely love Jet Set Rouge! It's a bright red while Pamplemousse is a coral pink.

How could I not buy the new Maybelline mascara? I've saw countless positive reviews and many bloggers comparing this highstreet mascara to the new Benefit Roller Lash! I've tried a sample of Roller Lash and found it incredible. The price of Benefit makeup is just too much so I'm hoping Maybelline's Lash Sensational lives up to my expectations. I'm always wanting to find cheaper alternatives! I love the packaging of this mascara and I can't wait to try it out. Again, we have a review coming up on this product too so keep your eyes peeled :)

Have you bought anything recently from Boots? What is your latest purchase?

Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil In Shade Berry Much

This is my all time favourite lip pencil. Ever. We got the shade Nude Perfection back in September when Maybelline first released these beauties and we haven't stopped using it since. So with the cold weather well and truely here, we've been pulling on jumpers and boots and that's when I realised we didn't have a traditional berry lip colour for the colder months. We're one of those people that love makeup and when the season changes, so does our makeup! I actually have so much makeup that I probably do have many, many berry lipsticks but I'll come up with any excuse to buy a new lip shade!

This colour is named Berry Much (I love the name) and it's absolutely perfect! It's so dark and more purplish berry toned than a pinkish colour which is exactly what I'm after. Dreamy! I applied this to my lips and it's so pigmented! I knew the colour would be fantastic because even the Nude Perfection shade has great colour which is rare for a nude colour.

I think I actually prefer lip pencils these days as it actually stays put on my lips for hours without re-applying. What makes these lip pencils so lovely though is that they are non drying in the slightest, even in the winter months when my lips are more prone to getting chapped. It's a winner in my eyes. There are also many shades to choose from like classic reds, pink colours or my beloved Nude Perfection. I tend to wear the lip pencil alone but sometimes I add a lipstick on top and obviously the lippie stays on for hours! Sorry for not adding a photograph of this on my lips but it's quite hard to photograph your own lips, haha! I'm sure you'll see us wearing this in future blog posts though.

All of this and it's just £4.99! Great price as the product lasts for months. I'd recommend to everyone!

Will you be trying this new classic?

Halloween | Kitty Cat Makeup

This post marks the beginning of our Halloween series! Me and Rachel were getting in the early Halloween spirit by playing around with our makeup. Rachel done my makeup as a cat and she done her makeup as a leopard and it just love how it turned out!
I just want to mention that both of these looks are inspired by Abby who runs the blog, Twist Me Pretty. You should check out her blog and youtube channel, it's amazing! Anyway, let's get to it and lets focus on the Kitty Cat makeup look which I was wearing!

I've always dressed up for Halloween and this year will be no different! For me, October has the vibe of Halloween for the whole of the month and I couldn't wait to finally try out a makeup look. This look was quite easy to achive as I found that it was just unusual twist on my normal makeup look. I prepared my skin with my normal foundation and powder. I then contoured my skin which I haven't really done before but now I'm obsessed! I then added a pink blush to my cheeks. The best thing about this look is the eyes! I obviously created a cat eye for this look. I made my flicks extra long and thick. I also added a sparkly eyeliner on top to give the look more glamour.
Products I used:
Face: Maybelline Superstay foundation | Rimmel Clear Complexion powder | Seventeen Highlighter | Dior Skin Healthy Glow blusher | Bourjois Paris Maxi Delight Bronzer
Eyes: Urban Decay in Sin | Bourjois in Upside Brown quad eyeshadows | Seventeen High Drama eyeliner | Too Faced Kohl eyeliner | Collection glitter eyeliner | Bourjois Volume Glamour mascara
Eyebrows: Too Faced brow evny kit
Lips: Barry M black lipstick

It isn't the scariest for Halloween but it's the perfect twist on your makeup look. You simply can't go wrong with a simply kitty cat makeup. As I said, this is only the first post in our Halloween series. Look out for more Halloween themed posts in the next two weeks.

Have you ever been a kitten for Halloween? Do you think you'll try this look out?

Our Makeup Favourites | Products We Use Everyday.

Hey everyone, welcome to the makeup favourites! This is a short post on what products I've recently been loving! If you love perfect brows, the perfect autumnal eyes, a pop of colour to your cheeks, fluttering eyelashes, nude lips and the perfect catflick, this look might be for you too!

Too Faced Brow Envy Kit - I'm a massive fan of Too Faced after discovering them earlier this year. They're lipsticks are absolutely amazing and I couldn't wait to explore more products from the brand. I bought the Brow Envy kit with my Christmas money and it's the only eyebrow product I've used all year! The kit contains professional tweezers, easy-to-use stencils to customize your brow shape, conditioning wax, powder & brow brush tools. The powders are just the right shades for my brows and they stay put all day. I love this brow kit and I don't know how I lived without it!

Seventeen Wet Look Lacquer Eyeliner - I was out on the hunt for a new liner and I just stumbled across this one. The pigment is amazing and I love the 'wet' look effect! The brush is quite small which might be a negative for some people but I love this eyeliner and I will probably buy it again.

Bourjois Volume Glamour Push Up Mascara - This mascara recently featured on my blog and you can read the full review on it here. If you've already read the review, you will know how much love I have for this mascara! I've been reaching for this mascara everday and it's the best mascara I have ever used. It lengthes, curls and volumizes the lashes - what more could a girl want from a mascara?

Bourjois Quad Smoky Eyeshadow Palette - This is another one of my Bourjois beauties that I have recently bought. I picked this palette out of a total of eight shades. I love the brown/golden shades in this palette and I think they're perfect to create the perfect smoky eye. They're so pigmented and they stay put all day long. I will definitely be buying more of the palettes in the future!

Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher - There is nothing better than a Bourjois blusher! I love everything about these little pots. I've had this shade for ages now and I still can't get enough of it. I find that this colour just adds the perfect pop of colour and it lasts a good few hours before it starts to wear off. The smell is just gorgeous and I will never get tired of these blushes.

Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil - This is another product that I have reviewed which you can read here. I love this pencil and it hasn't left my lips since I bought it. The shade is the perfect nude and it really does apply like velvet. The staying power is amazing too. I can see myself buying this over and over again.

There we have it! Our favourite makeup products that have been gracing our faces everyday! What are your favourite products at the moment?

Lots of love, Rachel x

My New Perfect Nude Lip - Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil.

These past couple of weeks I've tried so hard to stop spending all my money on make up that I don't need. But what can you do when you're a lipstick junkie like I am? I have so many lipsticks and most of the shades that I buy look identical to each other (ooops!). Before purchasing this lip liner, Rimmel's Coffee Shimmer lipstick never left my lips and I didn't think I'd find any other lip colour that could take it's place. But Maybelline might have topped it!

Today whilest I was out shopping I felt very vunerable to my feelings and I guess I felt a bit down. I wanted to go home but then I decided a good trip into Boots would take my mind off things. I didn't expect to buy anything but enter Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet lip pencil! I haven't heard anything about this new collection so I was really excited to give it a try.

Maybelline in my opinion have been great this year, constantly bringing out new and creative make up inventions and this lip pencil is certainly no exception. The shade I bought is a lovely nude and is apporiately named ''Nude Perfection''. The texture is smooth and non-drying on my lips - this was something I was worried about because I've never came across a lip liner that hasn't made me lips feel super dry but this liner is perfect. It doesn't budge for hours either. Although it is only a nude, the colour is so pigmented. The other shades in the range are really bright and bold and I've got my eye on the vampy purple shade, ''Berry Much''. At £4.99, I think this pencil is absolutely amazing value for money and I haven't stopped wearing it since purchase.

What is your favourite lipstick?
